I Hate Kanan Matsuura

As Dengeki G’s Magazine poll results came out, Kanan was revealed to be the center for Aqours 3rd single. There is nothing but salt for me in this outcome. It would have been nice for my best girl-- Hanamaru to win; but I would have been content with any other result. I find it difficult to see anything appealing in Kanan's character and can't understand why she's someones "best girl." To me, she seems more of an extra charcter used to maximize the effect of Mari's arc and after that plain fanservice. In this blog post, I'll discuss different points about Kanan and why I dislike her.



Appearance:
Kanan is not the ugliest of the Aqours girls (I'd give that one to Riko) but her color scheme seems very one-noted. In addition, out of all the girls, she has the least original hairstyle. Kanan's single pony-tail is reminiscent of Eli, who actually makes it work. 

Personality:
Kanan's personality to put simply, is bland. She is described as down to earth and like an older figure to the Aqours members. But that's it. There's nothing else to her.

Voice:
Her voice isn't as good as the others. In the song, the center will get a solo-- so why give it to the person with one of the weaker voices. Her voice will not be suited for an original and new Aqours song. The best chance of a cool song like Loveless World would be to have Yohane as center. Startting to choke on salt.

Role in the Anime:
This is not very important in deciding the center but I want to discuss it anyway. In my opinion, Mari and Kanan's arc were meshed and rushed too much. In the end, Mari stole most of the spotlight leaving Kanan with little character development. After that, she is just their with the main girls fufilling an uncomfortable fanservice role.
